Besides a proper name you also require an extension. There are two types of extensions you can choose from: a country bound extension or a general extension. An example of a county bound extension is “.co.uk”. Examples of general extensions are “.com” and “.org”. Besides these extensions you can also request an “.eu” extension. There are more than enough (easy to remember) names available if you choose the “.eu” extension.

Today there is no difference being made between companies and individuals: both can request the extension they require. This is contrary to the past, when only companies could request a “.com” extension.

In some cases it is adviseble to register multiple domain names. This ensures you that compatitors do not register your company name with a different extension. You can link all domainnames to the same website.
